Janu Basti is the premier Snigdha-Swedana procedure for the knee joint (Janu Sandhi). By building a leak-proof dough dam around the patella, warm medicated tailas (like Sahacharadi, Mahanarayana, or Ksheerabala) are pooled continuously for 30 to 45 minutes, deeply diffusing herbal lipids into the subchondral bone and synovial membrane. In addition to Basti, 'Janu Pichu' (continuous medicated oil pad therapy) is frequently utilized for acute knee joint inflammation, ligament sprains, and Baker's cysts.
A ring of black gram dough is sealed around the knee joint. Medicated herbal oil warmed to a precise therapeutic temperature is poured and maintained continuously with frequent rejuvenation. The procedure is concluded with gentle localized Swedana (steam massage).
First-line conservative management for Knee Osteoarthritis (Sandhigata Vata), ligament sprains, chondromalacia patellae, stiffness, and cracking joints.
Every multi-session protocol at Karmanya begins with a formal clinical diagnosis and pulse assessment by our BAMS physicians to confirm suitability.
